Oh So Peony Card Set and Gift Box: Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Hello! Welcome to the Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog hop. There are 20 of us from around the world so be sure to follow along to see everyone's projects. You should have just come from Holly Stene's blog. I just love Holly's projects.

This month the team is focusing the Oh So Succulent bundle. Now I know this is retiring but that doesn't mean you still can't use ideas for this set. Or better yet, pick it up while it's on sale and you'll have lots of fun things to do with it. I really love this set and this will be one that I will be holding on to after it retires.

One of the things I saw with this set was to make some peonies, my favorite flower! I was trying to think of another use for this set besides succulents. Just by die cutting and stamping the images in a different color than the typical greens for succulents, you can make other types of flowers.

The first thing I did was make a note card gift set with holder. I had the idea of using this as a mother's day gift but really this can be for anyone. I kept the elements the same on all cards but used different sentiments and different DSP for each card.

These cards are note card size and I made my own envelopes by using the Envelope Punch board. I don't use this as often as I should. Making your own envelopes is such a great way to add that special touch to your card. It's cute and so simple to do.

All of the flowers were stamped in Pink Pirouette ink on Pink Pirouette paper. It's not very noticeable but you can see it more up close. The flower outline was stamped in Sweet Sugarplum ink. The outline to the leaves (or whatever they are) are stamped in Mint Macaron ink on Mint Macaron cardstock.

If you look closely, you can see that I added some drops of the Fine Tip glue to the leaves for that dewy look. You will also notice that the Stitched Shape circle (behind the flower) was stamped with one of the flower images from the set and was then embossed with white embossing powder.

I cut strips of the Succulent Garden DSP to layer on each card. (The strips correspond with the handmade envelope). And then I cut strips of Gold glimmer paper. For the final touch, I added gold thread, pearls and some gold glitz dazzling details. (The gold glitz is so cheap, so stock up now!!)

To hold all of these cards, I again used the Envelope Punch board to make this box. I must have made this box like 5 times because I wasn't following the directions right, hehe! (I found the directions on Pinterest). In the end, this box still isn't exactly right but I like how it looks. I say it's not right because if you were to close that top flap the cards won't fit. But that's ok, I like the box with the top open like this. So this turned out to be my "happy mistake".

The belly band around the box is a strip of vellum stamped and embossed with the same flower image from the cards. A strip of gold glimmer paper was added. Then I added the pretty peony. I used the largest and 2nd largest flower in Pink Pirouette to make the peony. Then I cut out 2 of the smaller ones in white and Peekaboo Peach to make the center and then added a pearl.

For this peony I used all 3 of the flower dies and die cut the Pink Pirouette cardstock several times for each size. The white flower was cut twice and another small flower in Peekaboo Peach. I wanted this flower to be larger and fuller so I just die cut more flowers.

The belly band is the same that I did for the card box. For the inside of the box, I used my fringe scissors and cut up scraps of Mint Macaroon cardstock and filled the clear tiny treat boxes with jelly beans. These boxes are so cute and this would look great filled with any kind of candy or treats.

I hope this inspired you to get crafty with your Oh So Succulent set or maybe inspired you to get it now while it's on sale!!

Yummy In My Tummy - GDP082

Happy Friday! It's been a bit since I've posted. I've been crafting up a storm but nothing I can share just yet. And I've been working on cleaning up and organizing my craft area so that's been real fun. Nope! Haha!! But I did have time to today to whip up this card real quick. Now that the retiring list is out, I need to use some of my favorites before I get all of the new goodies. Today I'm participating in the Global Design Project challenge again. Check it out HERE.  This week is a sketch challenge.

I chose to work with the super fun Yummy In My Tummy set. I LOVE this monster and I didn't get to use him enough. I wanted to use this monster for a fun birthday card so I combined this card with the Happy Celebrations set. I used the splatter image from the set to make the Lemon-Lime Twist background paper. I kind of made my own DSP and I think it looks a little camo-like. Then I used the Urban Underground DSP for the rest of the card. This chevron piece is my favorite from the bunch.

I stamped the monster on Bermuda Bay cardstock and cut him out. Then I stamped the Happy on to Pool Party ink and the Birthday To You on Peekaboo Peach cardstock. I like these colors together. Fun and bright. Then I just added a few enamel shapes for a little extra color. This card was fairly quick and simple but still looks so fun!

I hope you all play along with the challenge this week.

Make sure you get this guy before he's gone. Place a $30 or more order in my online store during the month of April using Hostess Code: CTVQJGPE and you  will be entered to win a Watercolor Wishes Card Kit!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Here is a sneak peek of the Easter Palace Suite!

It took me a little bit to figure out what I wanted to do with this set. It's probably not something I would normally order but once I started playing with it, I realized there were a ton of cool things you could make with the stamps and dies. The options really are endless with this set!

For my first card I used one of the Eastern Medallion thinlits dies as the focus. Now I thought this die was supposed to cut all the way through the paper and I thought I was having problems cutting it out because I was using the glimmer paper. Um nope, it's actually meant to pop out of the card like the picture below. BUT now you can see that you can cut it out as well and use it as the focal point. So 2 great uses for this die. Also, be sure to be gentle when pulling the dies off of the sheet as they are delicate and can bend easily.

This is how the die is supposed to look with the edges cut out. To separate it, cut between each point to make a medallion.

When you look at the close up, you can see that I used the Eastern Gold Vinyl stickers that will be available. There are many different stickers but I chose to use the strips. I then cut up one of the tassels from the Mini Tassels assortment and used the twine from that to layer in between the stickers. Then the bottom of the Fresh Fig cardstock was stamped with one of the images from the set in Fresh Fig ink. As usual I added sequins and dazzling details. I never thought I would use the dazzling details so much! HA!

For my next card I used this really pretty gold paper from the Eastern Palace DSP. I layered it on Tranquil Tide card stock. This color is sooooo pretty. For the sentiment I used the new Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide inks to make the ombre effect. First I stamped it in Lemon Lime Twist, then I used the sponge dauber to add the Traquil Tide ink. How pretty!

The medallion behind the sentiment is also from the new thinlits. There is a large circle thinlit to cut that fancy outside border, then I used a circle layering die to make it a circle shape. The finishing touches are sequins and a bow with the gold thread.

My final card is based on the ombre effect I did on the last card. I loved how the Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide looked together so I wanted to watercolor with them. I stamped 2 of the circles from the stamp set on watercolor paper in versamark and embossed with clear powder. Then I used my aqua painter to watercolor the background with Lemon Lime Twist, Dapper Denim and Tranquil Tide. I used my aqua painter and Tranquil Tide ink to get the splatters.

So this time I cut a square out of black cardstock and used another of the thinlits to get the fun cut out look. See I told you the possibilities are endless with these dies and stamps!! The sentiment was embossed with white embossing powder and I just die cut it with a circle layering die so I could pop it up on dimensionals. And more sequins were added!

I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek! You will get lots of other fun ideas from the team, so make sure you go all the way through the hop!
